So Diamond talks about "pessimism". 
    Predicting a collapse as late as 2050 would be just that. I'll bet there are many optimists that would say he's off by about 30 years. And this "intellectual" lives in Los Angeles area ? I hear temp's are predicted to be worse than in 2018.
