Old 60 Minutes video from the Seattle WTO riots
#1
Bilveg dug up this old gem on YouTube—it's kinda amusing. It's a segment on the WTO riots in Seattle from way back when. Includes an interview with some Eugene anarchists, and a mini-interview with John Zerzan.

Brings back memories. I was there in Seattle hiding out at Left Bank Books when all the rioting started.

In the days that followed, when the local and national media descended on Eugene, JZ had to leave town to get away from all the reporters.

It's interesting, activists sitting down with the MSM corporate media to be willingly interviewed on camera would never happen today. Those were naive times, and security culture has had to improve greatly. Those activists would have been doxxed today, and whoever had jobs would have lost them, along with their apartments. They may even have faced a Grand Jury today. But back then, the internet was not a big thing, nor was it the kind of source for all information it is now.

Even in 2002 though, when I brought JZ up to Vancouver to give a talk to promote his new book Running on Emptiness, I was being followed by undercover cops when I was putting up posters around town to advertise the event. It was a little unnerving to say the least.
